Southie Marina
I realize I haven't blogged in a while but I have been very busy. I draw every day and recently started studying with an outstanding watercolorist in Wilmington. In October I am signed up to take a class in pastel landscape at the Quincy Art Assoc. I am also going to be the featured Artist of the Month in October at the Southie Library. I am excited about this because it was at the Southie library where I took out the first books on drawing and painting back in the 80's which started me off on this endless journey called art. So I am forever grateful to them. If you get a chance do visit the library in October to see a selection of small watercolors.
Who would have guessed September would turn out better than June or July? The last couple of weeks have been great and I have spent most of it outside sketching. Today I went back to the Marina. This must have been my twentieth or so time this year. This is the small marina next to the BAC. It is a wonderful place: Plenty of parking, no passersby; just me, my stool and my sketchbook. Whenever I want to try out something new I go back here to study plein air. Find yourself a place like this that you can use as an outdoor studio.
I have plenty of sketches now to paint from back in my studio once the weather turns cold. I anticipate being indoors October through the end of December and then off to Florida. I love sketching outside and wish more people would give it a shot. Hope you are all well.
