Maine in Winter

Maine in Winter.jpgHere is a watercolor I did today using a photo I took several years ago in Maine.  My advice to anyone painting from photos is to make a drawing of the photo first with assigned values and good shapes.  Then using a limited palette, paint from the sketch not the photo.  Try to limit the number of strokes and washes and good luck. By the way, if anyone is not interested in receiving these blog entries please just let me know in a return email and I will remove your name from the address list immediately.  Happy painting.
