Going Uptown

Ever since I became a "Lower-ender" again I appreciate once again the differences between the two sides  of Southie.  When I was a kid we called it big and little broadways.  We have no place to buy fish or fresh vegetables, cold cuts, butter.  We have one church that is in disrepair.  The other one we did have was made into condos.  We don't have a library,a bookstore or hardware store.  We do have two liquor stores (one even delivers) and a couple of great restaurants.  So making the trek uptown is a big deal for me.  I hate to shop and the further I have to go the more I hate it.  I did this watercolor today.  I used a photo for a reference but changed a ton of stuff.  It required a lot of drawing; much more than I like to do before painting really but I felt the pencil sketch alone did not do the scene justice.
