L is for Loving Florida

This was my first sketch in Florida this year.  Unfortunately it has been almost as cold here as it is in Boston so we haven't gone out much.  In fact, I was supposed to go sketching with the Palm Beach Watercolor Society on the 5th and the organizer emailed me to postpone due to the "extreme weather conditions".  Hopefully by next week I will be outside doing some palm trees.  I did this sketch on drawing paper stained by tea (although you can't tell that from the computer image), drew the scene with waterproof ink and laid in some quick watercolor washes.  The words were added to slow down the viewing process, to balance the L shape composition and to tell a quick story.  Happy new year.
