Sketch of Palm Beach Marina

This is the first of three sketches I did this morning.  I am showing this one because I intend to paint it tomorrow (or the next cloudy day) and I want to compare my painted version with this value study.

  Last year while I was here in Florida my goal was to hone my drawing/sketching skills which helped a great deal in finding subjects to paint.  This year I have been focusing on mastering my use of the digital camera and photoshop elements to allow me to take excellent photos which will serve as my color reference.  I am very excited about the work flow process I have perfected to capture quality photos.  Anybody who has followed this blog knows I disapprove of simply painting from photos.  I have promised myself that I will only paint scenes which I have sketched first so from now on I will post both the sketch and finished paintings to keep me honest.
