After the failed black and white attempt I visited a few more galleries to get my juices flowing again. On the way back to my car I spotted another peaceful scene, this time with umbrellas (one of my favorite shapes) and figures both seated and strolling. When I went to take a photo I discovered the battery in my camera was dead (note to buy spare) so I had to sketch it without the safety net. Luckily I took many photos earlier of strollers, window shoppers, diners, etc. in case the sketch needs polishing. I found a comfortable shady spot and got out my watercolors. Many people came by to see what I was doing and I received many compliments during the process. I was very pleased with the outcome of the sketch, especially some of the abstract touches that I believe were a direct result of my having seen the work of many wonderful abstract landscape artists in a gallery called Native Visions. Mission accomplished, I stopped for a slice of pizza and a diet coke before heading home to Bruno.
