Boston Fish Pier
Saturday, July 2, 2011
I did this watercolor this morning from one of the photos I took last week down by the waterfront. I rearranged a few things, mostly eliminating unnecessary shapes, ropes and lines, trucks, etc. and changed the color scheme to compliments of orange and blue. I drew the scene with my brush which is a lot of fun and tends to make me a lot looser than when using a pencil. It took over three hours to complete this painting but I am happy with the result. Whenever I paint the fish pier I am reminded of my after-school job at Yankee Lobster during my high school days. I can still close my eyes and hear the gulls and smell that dirty water.
