I did this quarter sheet watercolor from two photos I took last week at Castle Island.  I had to squeeze between a narrow fence to capture the angle of the boat in relation to the pier.  I took some colorful life vests from nearby and placed them in critical spots to offset and balance the sunlit boat.  This is the type of scene I would have loved to painted on site but there were too many kids there that day, all screaming, or so it seemed, and the sun was getting hot.  Thanks to technology I captured the essence of the scene in a few snaps with my digital and composed a peaceful, sunny morning scene in the comfort of my home.
