Florida Shapes

I was looking through my sketches this morning and came across this study I did of a house and boat on a sunny day. In fact, as I remember it was so hot I couldn't paint on site comfortably so I took a few photos and did a little value study for later use. Well, I decided to take a stab at simplifying the shapes and values even more. I also added a yellow sky to symbolize the heat I felt that day. Watercolor forces strong statements; none of the fiddling or forgiveness of oil painting. That is why artists everywhere use this wonderful medium for sketching. In take two called Less is More, I eliminated the distracting eye like windows, and raised the mast right off the page thereby greatly improving the composition(I think).
