Love is a Walk in the Park

Love-is-a-walk-in-the-park.jpg Friday, January 13, 2012

This started out as a winter scene and upon review became a sexy night stroll around the park.  Maybe it's my mood.  On facebook I wrote after the title, Finding the right walking partner is the challenge.  It started as an exercise practicing dry-into-wet washes to create the background trees, one of the most fun things to do with watercolor paints.  Because of the different amounts of water mixed with the paint there is mingling and blending of colors and blooming of edges that is actually quite exciting and fun to watch.  It is one of the few times you can just sit back and watch it happen and not have to feel so in control.  For a control freak like myself it is a lesson I have to keep learning over and over.  In fact I'll bet more watercolors are ruined by the well-intentioned over-doer than the laid-back collaborator who as the English painters would say "let the watercolor have its head."  New Year's resolution!  I will try harder to work less and let the watercolor paint itself. Back to search for the right walking partner.....
