Sunny Day At Last

I had a great weekend sketching some of my favorite spots in Southie.  It is nice to be home again and whenever the weather cooperates I intend to grab my sketchbook and go.  Because it is overcast and too cool for my taste today I decided to take the best sketch of the last two days and see if I could create an interesting watercolor.  My goal was to follow the value study I did on site and add my own colors from memory and sense of design.  I am happy with the result, especially the simplified shapes, limited values and colors.  I feel like I captured the rare sunny, warm day near the water in my hometown.  Happy Mothers' Day.
