The Coyle House
Monday, June 20, 2011
I did this painting on the first day of a watercolor workshop with Mel Stabin, a watercolorist and instructor who I have admired for years. After I finished and was working on another little sketch of another house I spotted a fellow admiring this piece from his car. He said:"You did a nice job on that painting." I asked him if he lived in the neighborhood and he said that this was his house I painted. His name is Gerry Coyle so I named it The Coyle House. Gerry said he might be interested in buying the painting but wanted to show his wife first. I usually never hear back from someone who says that. To be honest, I don't really care. I enjoy the process of painting not the process of selling paintings.
